What we spotted
The solution identified that while a newly promoted manage had “bao ka liao” potential, he was also hampered by a skills deficiency.
What happened (according to the company)
After being recognised as one of the company’s top performers, an employee was promoted to a managerial position. However, the company realised that his staff kept resigning or requesting for transfers.
He soon tendered his resignation, as he couldn’t handle his new position. An HR review found that the new manager had excellent technical skills, but lacked interpersonal and delegation skills. He often completed tasks himself and complained about his team’s work – without ever properly delegating tasks or communicating requirements properly.
